Titirangi goes plastic free
Love Titirangi
What a fantastic day in Titirangi, the village goes plastic free…
A day to be proud of. Love Titirangi has worked hard to make sure the plastic free initiative in Titirangi went off with a bang. A simple choice by locals to ditch your plastic bags when you go shopping in the village, can and will have massive long term effects.
Michele Powles of Love Titirangi said they “want people to see this is something they can do easily, something they can enjoy and be a part of”. Six local schools made bags and decorations for the launch day, and helpers creating over 1,000 reusable bags for locals and retailers. The launch was attended by Auckland Mayor Phil Goff, who seemed to be very pleased with his attempt at bag-making, Green Party candidate Chloe Swarbrick and so many locals.

Each plastic bag is used for an average of 12 minutes and lasts for hundreds of years.
